It took several months for her to want to venture freely into my bedroom. Now she makes her way in there all by herself quite often. It took over a year for her to purr more frequently around me. (I thought she just didn't purr.) I was also ecstatic when she began sitting in my lap on her own for extended periods of time and making biscuits. She usually comes to sit in my lap several times a day, especially when it's cold outside.
Now, Callie has a confession to make as she's picked up a new sweet cat habit. And because today also happens to be Cuddle Up Day, it's the purrfect time for this announcement. She likes to sleep under the blankets with me. And I LOVE it!
This started happening within the last month or two. I was sleeping one day and in the morning I felt a cold nose nudging my face and arm. It was Callie. I groggily lifted my arm and blanket up a little and she crawled under and just slept right next to me.
This is something I never really expected that Callie would like to do, but it's now become a regular routine. If I take a nap, she sleeps with me too then. I even caught her sleeping on top of the Cat Daddy one time.
If she's had her fill of cuddling under the blankets with me, she just helps herself out but will usually sleep somewhere nearby on the bed.
I'm not sure why Callie suddenly decided she wanted to sleep under the blankets with me, but I have two supporting theories. For starters, it's colder now and she likes to sit with me more during the winter. Also, it's a good hiding spot from kitten Roadside. He does pester her quite a bit and chase her around the house. He can't get to her if she's under the blankets though.
So that's it - Callie's confession! She likes to be spooned! Happy Cuddle Up Day, friends!
My human has always been disappointed that I don't join her under the covers. In fact, I usually only sleep with her when we are at a hotel, and sometimes not even then! Funny thing is, when I do therapy cat work, I love lying down next to the patients and purring. Maybe I just don't think my human is in need of therapy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not! I always wished Callie would sleep with me too, so I'm pretty excited about this. :)
DeleteI sleep undercover too... or on the head of the mama... maybe I have some feline genes too?
ReplyDeleteI sleep next to Granny, only sometimes under the cover. Pawkisses for a wonderful warm weekend :) <3
ReplyDeleteSo cute :-) Callie the Cuddle CAT! Golden Woofs, SUGAR
ReplyDeletePixie loves to come and cuddle under the cover too. Purrs
ReplyDeleteSophie comes to bed every night, paws for the covers to be lifted, goes in for a snuggle for a bit, then crawls out and sleeps on the foot of the bed. Bert doesn't go under the covers. Nice Callie is starting to snuggle.
ReplyDeleteBear won't actually come under the covers, but every so often, he doesn't mind being spooned. He's always been a super snuggly guy (he doesn't mind being wedged between me and the couch) but there have been quite a few precious snuggly moments that I will never, ever forget.
ReplyDeleteMy cat is totally nocturnal, she loves walking across our sleeping bodies at 3 am. She is banned from the bedroom
ReplyDeleteYou sure have an adorable snuggle buddy!
ReplyDeleteWe're glad Callie feels so comfortable with you that she'll crawl under the covers. That's one of my favorite spots to be, too, sleeping next to my mom. ~Ernie

Has it really been almost 2 years already?! That pic of Callie under the covers with you is adorable. Jasper used to do that too... he would always turn to face me, nose to nose, and then knead my neck while he purred. Cats are so awesome. <3
ReplyDeleteYASSSSS! TOTALLY! It rocks - especially on COLD nights!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Go, Callie, go!
ReplyDeleteI am a snuggler!
ReplyDeleteI stick to the humans like glue, especially when it's cold...
Have a wonderful week...

My first cat would sleep next to me for hours but my two now won't. I'm pretty sad about that but I forgive them since it's probably too hot under the covers for them now that we've moved to Australia :-O
ReplyDeleteHow precious.. I'm glad she figured out how awesome that is
