We recently stopped by our local PetSmart to shop for Bayer® ExpertCare™ products. When I go to PetSmart, I try to make it a point to look through every aisle. Of course, that can be hard sometimes. PetSmart is a big place and with children in tow it makes it hard for me to browse for long periods of time. So, most of the time I'm in and out with what I need.
A few of the Bayer Expert Care skin care products for products for dogs at PetSmart. |
This time, I headed to the Health and Wellness aisle of PetSmart and browsed through the selection of Bayer ExpertCare products. I found several different products for skin care, probiotics for digestive health, eye lubricant, ear cleanser, and more. Bayer ExpertCare provides At Home Pet Care products that are specially formulated for cats and dogs. The products are veterinary formulated, so when your pet needs some extra support you know that these are quality care products you can trust.
I picked up a few of the Bayer ExpertCare products to try out with Shiner, including their Itch Relief Spray for Dogs. I thought it would be good to have around the house for unexpected episodes of itchy skin. Apparently, I was right because Shiner started licking her front legs and paws a few days later.
Her legs are not red or irritated, but I've caught her consistently licking away at them for the past week. I think part of it may be from boredom since I've had to put all of her toys away. After her dental surgery last week, she is not allowed to chew on anything. Plus, she has a patch of fur shaved away from a catheter placement that could be bothering her.
It's not a major concern at this time for me, because there is no redness or obvious irritation. If there were, this would be cause for concern and I'd take her to the vet for a check-up.
When I catch Shiner licking her feet, I use the Bayer ExpertCare Itch Relief Spray on her and try to let it sit for a few minutes undisturbed. The bottle says it reaches maximum effect within 3-5 minutes after initial application. The spray provides temporary relief of itching and flaking. It's made with 1% Pramoxine HCl and Colloidal Oatmeal. I noticed that Bayer ExpertCare makes an Itch Relief Spray that is specially formulated for cats also.
This stuff is great to have on hand if you have a dog or cat with itchy skin. Shiner doesn't care for the spray, but she hates ALL sprays. After I spray her with Bayer ExpertCare Itch Relief Spray, she proceeds to rub her entire body all over everything. It's just the way she is because she is silly sometimes. :) You can see what I mean in the video below.
Next time you are at PetSmart, remember to take a peek down the Health and Wellness aisle and see what kind of Bayer ExpertCare products they have available. You'll likely find something that can make care for your pet easier. You can also find Bayer ExpertCare products at PetSmart online HERE.
We will be talking about a few other Bayer ExpertCare products in the next few months, so be sure to stay tuned for that!
Does your dog or cat have itchy skin? What have you tried to provide relief for them?
Bayer Expert Care has some great products. i have purchased the probiotics for Mary and a couple of other items. I look forward to seeing how the probiotics help her tummy, when a sneaky person gives her table scraps at out holiday meal.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed that they help!
DeleteThis is great! My Lexus is the same as Shiner, where sometimes she has little flare ups where her skin will be itchy and dry. Not too sure why.
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Bain has occasional flare ups as well. Normally in his armpits or around that area. Bathing him with certain bath products have helped, but I would not mind having this around. We had a flea issue this year, so I went without giving him his weekly bath and he ended up getting rashy in his arm area.
ReplyDeleteWith this I wouldn't have to worry about washing off the flea medication, if I could just apply it directly. Fantastic :)
We also had a flea issue this year. That's usually the worst time of year for Shiner. She's done pretty well this fall, which is when the fleas usually return. Didn't see them this time though. Thank dog!
DeleteBut yea, this stuff is supposed to help moisturize the skin so you can skip the bath. It smells really nice too, actually.
Glad you found sumfin' dat works. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
Glad you found something that helps.
ReplyDeleteWe really love the itch relief spray too. It really works!
ReplyDeleteBet it helps with dry skin in the winter months too!
ReplyDeleteErnie gets really itchy. I wonder if they have anything like that for cats. ~Island Cat Mom
ReplyDeleteYep! They make an itch relief spray formulated for cats as well.
DeleteI didn't even know that Bayer made products for pets...very cool. We do have occasional bouts of itchiness around here, so I can see where this would be good to have on hand.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about spray that my dogs just don't like either!
Oh My :-) same issue with SUGAR even though she wears her boots all the time. It's good that Shiner don't have any leg fur. Hope its working well. Golden Woofs
ReplyDeleteDucky's on Apoquel right now because her itchiness was so bad she had licked and scratched away some of her fur. Thankfully, a lot of it has grown back already and more is still growing back; but she does still scratch a bit here and there. I think I'll give this stuff a try once she's done with the Apoquel.
ReplyDeletePoor Ducky :( It's nice to have around for mild itchiness I think. But I would definitely still have the vet check out more persistent and serious scratching.
DeleteOh, believe me, if the scratching isn't greatly reduced by the time the Apoquel is gone, I will take her back to the vet. The Apoquel has been helping considerably, so hopefully nice hypoallergenic baths and comb-outs will also continue to help. But I think I'll ask the vet about the spray, too.
ReplyDeleteI know you will :) I know how it is too... once we get over any bad episodes, we try to stay on top of things so it doesn't return!
DeleteI stopped by petsmart today and there were none on the shelves. Management blamed it on petsmart's distribution/warehouse. I hope they restock soon.
